Lomi Lomi Nui History:

The beginnings of Lomi Lomi Nui are set in acient temples. The massage was performed by Kahuns, Hawaiian clergymen, guardians of mysteries. The massage was a ceremony to purify and strengthen the body and mind, which was practised at the key moments in life.

The knowledge about the massage was guarded for centuries and passed onto chosen ones. Only recently Kahuns decided to share the knowledge with people from outside Hawaiian culture. The first person to introduce the massage in Western world was Abraham Kawaii.

Nowadays, people around the world are discovering the benefits of the massage. It relaxes, revitalises and transformes you physically and mentaly.  

Description and Goals of the massage:

During overall massage there are various techniques used. The massage is done on the oiled area of body with smooth long movements of forearms. The atmosphere is built with candle light, Hawaiian music and relaxing smells. The massage lasts 1,5 – 2 hours. The masseur is dressed in Lawa, a colourful shawl. While lying on a oiled bed, they place a towel on. During the massage, the masseur will fold the towel to uncover massaged areas, always making sure the towel covers the intimate parts of the body. The Hawaiian traditional songs and steady breath of the masseur, who dances in the rhythm of music, relax and soothe your senses. The massage consists of series of pressures on certain areas of the body and ‘switching on’ the joints, by circular movements, stretching, bending and shaking. The masseur uses their forearms, palms, finger tips, fingers and also elbows to rub, hug, swing, nible areas of body. The body is touched constantly.

The massage can be performed by two or even three masseurs.
